Peugeot trims to two cars for Spa

Peugeot has announced that it will enter two, rather than three, cars in the Le Mans Series race at Spa-Francorchamps in May

The event is used as preparation for the Le Mans 24 Hours the following month and the French manufacturer had been expected to run all three of its 908 HDis in Belgium, but Peugeot Sport director Olivier Quesnel says its attack will be reduced to two.

"This decision is not due to any delay in either our preparation or our work load, but to a small change in our organisational set-up, said Quesnel. "Our priority is still Le Mans and I don't want to see the team tire itself out by having to prepare three cars for Spa, especially since we are also working on our ongoing endurance simulation programme.

"We have consequently chosen six drivers for the Belgian race based on the number of kilometres they have respectively put in at the wheel of the 908 HDi FAP."

Nicolas Minassian, Christian Klien and Simon Pagenaud will share the #7 at Spa, with David Brabham, Marc Gene and Alexander Wurz filling the #8.
