Palmer fastest in pre-Brands test
Jolyon Palmer was quickest in the official Formula 2 test at Brands Hatch yesterday, ahead of this weekend's rounds of the championship at the British circuit
Palmer lapped in 1m16.111s, one tenth quicker than fellow Briton Will Bratt. Bratt was followed by Dean Stonemean to complete a British 1-2-3.
Sergey Afanasiev finished the day in fourth place, 0.384s slower than Palmer, at the circuit on which he scored two podium finishes in International Formula Master in 2009.
Tom Gladdis was fifth quickest on his return to action in the series, just 0.421s off the lead pace. Philipp Eng rounded out the top six.
Spaniard Ramon Pineiro was eighth in the test, the Formula Palmer Audi racer stepping up to F2 for the first time ahead of an intended entry into the Valencia round of the series at the end of the year and a full season in 2011.
German brothers Julian and Johannes Theobald also joined F2 for the test, ending the day in 17th and 19th places.
