Nathaneal Berthon to stay with Greaves for rest of ELMS season

Frenchman Nathanael Berthon will contest the remainder of the European Le Mans series with reigning champion Greaves Motorsport

The 27-year-old joined the team for last month's Le Mans 24 Hours after being released by the G-Drive Racing World Endurance Championship squad and will contest the remaining four ELMS races aboard the Greaves LMP2 class Ligier-Nissan JSP2.

Berthon takes the place of Kuba Giermaziak alongside three-time Daytona 24 Hours winner Memo Rojas and reigning WEC P2 champion Julien Canal, starting this weekend at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.

Team principal Jacob Greaves said: "We are very pleased to retain Nathanael for the rest of the season: he proved his pace at Le Mans and fitted in very well with his co-drivers and the team."

Berthon, who notched up his second top-six finish in class at Le Mans this year with Greaves, added: "The relationship with my team-mates gelled from the first day and the ambiance within the team is really good.

"I am convinced that with the package of the team, car and drivers we have all the elements to be very competitive and to fight for victory for the rest of the ELMS season."

Berthon, a winner in both Formula 3.5 and GP2, moved into the prototype ranks in the ELMS with the Murphy Prototype team in 2014-15 before contesting the first two rounds of this year's WEC with the Jota-run G-Drive ORECA squad.

Giermaziak left Greaves ahead of Le Mans after encountering sponsorship difficulties.
