Muller wins at Xonrupt Longemer

Opel's Yvan Muller followed up his qualifying victory by winning his ten-lap final race, to take an unassailable lead in the fourth round of the 1999/2000 Andros Trophy

The man from Alsace started from pole in his ten-lap final, pulling away from Jean-Philippe Dayraut and crossing the line with a four-second advantage.

Marcel Tarrès took third place, ahead of Nissan's Jean-Pierre Malcher.

Further back, Henri Leconte showed himself at ease on the ice as well as on a tennis court, moving up to sixth place before dropping back.

In the other final, Opel's Eric Helary, starting from third on the grid, overtook Emmanuel Collard's Nissan at the start.

He then proceeded to overtake pole-man James Ruffier by the end of the first lap, taking the chequered flag a second ahead of Ruffier's Tigra.

Overall, Muller took a well-deserved win ahead of an impressive Ruffier, with Dayraut third and Helary recovering well from his early driveshaft failure to take fourth place.

Emmanuel Collard was the best of the Nissan crew, in fifth place, with Tarrès taking sixth.

Jean-Noel Lanctuit and Jean-Michel Neyrial both won their 5-lap finals, confirming their respective positions as first and second in the Promotion category for cars with two-wheel drive and two wheel steering.

Christophe Balas, winner of the previous round, was third.

With three victories so far this season, Muller now has a 14-point lead over his nearest rival Jean-Philippe Dayraut.

Eric Helary completes the Opel domination of this year's Trophy, with third place, while James Ruffier is the leading non-factory driver in fourth.
