Moreno fastest as Green falters

Roberto Moreno was fastest in a recent multi-team CART test at Milwaukee, with a lap of 21.424s during the afternoon

Newman/Haas, PacWest, Team Rahal, the Project Racing Group and Patrick Racing, for whom Roberto Moreno drives, were present.

KOOL Green driver Paul Tracy's test was cut short by an accident shortly before lunch. Although Paul was not injured, the Honda-Reynard suffered extensive damage in the crash.

"I downshifted coming into Turn Three and the car just turned left," said Tracy. "I was pretty much a passenger after that."

With Tracy sidelined for the remainder of the day, his team concentrated on Dario Franchitti's Honda-Reynard during the afternoon. Despite making a variety of changes to the car's set-up, however, Franchitti was unable to improve on his time from the morning.

"It was a bit frustrating," said Franchitti. "Nothing we did seemed to make any difference to the car or the performance. The track was very green. It hasn't been raced on in quite a while, so that may have had something to do with it.

"I talked with several of the other drivers and they seemed to be experiencing the same problem."

The next race will be at Nazareth on May 27 (rescheduled from April 9 due to inclement weather).
