Moreno confirmed at Herdez

Brazilian veteran Roberto Moreno has been granted a fulltime return to Champ Cars by the Mexican-backed Herdez Competition squad

The 44-year-old will partner Mario Dominguez, who won last year's Surfers Paradise race in Australia, in the expanded two-car squad which is run by former Pacific F1 boss Keith Wiggins.

"I can't tell you how excited I am to re-join the competition after a year away," said Moreno. "I know I am capable of competing with these youngsters, and maybe even teaching them a thing or two!"

Moreno has 102 starts under his belt, which includes two poles and two wins. He finished a career-best third in the championship in 2000 and his career includes stints in Formula 1 with teams as diverse as Benetton and Andrea Moda.

Herdez chief Enrique Hernandez-Pons Torres said: "We have an enormous amount of respect for the experience and racecraft that Roberto brings to our team. And we have every confidence that he will bring that expertise to bear and help us to reach the next stage in our team's development - to be a respected competitor week-in and week-out."
