McDowell to Race for Rocketsports
Michael McDowell is set to compete in the final two races of the Champ Car World Series with Rocketsports Racing
Autosport-Atlas understands that the deal with the team has already been done and a formal announcement will come by the end of the week.
The 2004 Star Mazda champion currently races sportscars in the Grand Am series, however he tested with Rocketsports at the beginning of this month.
The team are unlikely to be in a position to field a third car for McDowell, meaning that either of their current drivers Timo Glock or Ryan Hunter-Reay will have to make way for the American.
Hunter-Reay is thought most likely to be under threat, after an unspectacular season, lying 14th in the standings. By contrast, teammate Glock lies in ninth, leading the rookie of the year standings.
