Marinescu tops second practice
Mihai Marinescu warmed up for this weekend's Formula 2 season opener at Silverstone by going fastest in the second free practice session at the British circuit
The Romanian was one of a number of drivers to improve on his previous best during six frantic minutes at the end of the session - brought on by a red flag caused by a spin at Stowe for Sung-Hak Mun.
As the seconds ticked down, Ramon Pineiro, Tobias Hegewald and Miki Monras all set impressive times, but it was Marinescu, on his final flying lap, that emerged quickest in a time of 1m51.636s - marginally slower than Jack Clarke managed in morning practice.
Pineiro was second quickest, as he had been during the morning, 0.257s adrift of Marinescu's time, while Hegewald, Monras, James Cole and Kelvin Snoeks completed the top six.
Max Snegirev and Thiemo Storz - who had held the top spot for the first half of the session - were next up with Will Bratt and Clarke completing the top 10.
An earlier red flag had been caused by Jose Luis Abadin spinning into the gravel at Maggotts. The Spaniard was unable to resume the session and wound up only 22nd.
