Management changes at CART

CART has shuffled its race operations personnel in an effort to streamline the decision-making process. John Anderson, formerly of PacWest Racing and Team Green, will take on the brunt of the responsibility, while the position of Chief Steward held by Chris Kneifel has been eliminated

Kneifel will serve in the new position of Race Director, and will be responsible for calling the race as well as any procedural issues. Anderson moves from the pit lane to the control tower to assume responsibility judgmental officiating calls.

Billy Kamphausen will assume control of pit lane while Anderson will remain in charge of both pre- and post-session technical inspections. Kneifel and Anderson will be in charge of the driver meetings and Anderson will also oversee any post-event meetings that may be necessary.

"After putting a new team together, this is the next logical step in building a strong unit to officiate our events," Kneifel said. "Having a veteran guy like John Anderson that has been on the team side of things for many years, helps balance out our team and gives us a fuller perspective over what happens on the track."

In other news, Tim Mayer has been dismissed by CART after most recently
serving as a promoter liason for Champ Car's overseas races.
