Latest: Zanardi and Nunn agree terms

Alex Zanardi will be back in the CART series next year, having agreed a deal with Mo Nunn Racing

The double CART Champion, who won his titles under the engineering expertise of Nunn at Ganassi Racing, still has to sign contracts, but team owner Mo Nunn is happy that it will now go ahead.

"Alex has agreed, we've agreed, so I don't see any problems," said Nunn. "But until it is finally signed I won't believe it!

"I'm really excited about it," he continued. "We'll get a bit of life back into him, and it should be OK."

Mo Nunn Racing will move into a new factory in Indianapolis as it expands into a two-car team. Zanardi will drive a Honda-powered Reynard alongside the team's existing driver, Tony Kanaan.

Jimmy Vasser, who had been close to taking the second seat at Mo Nunn's team is now working hard on finalising a deal at Patrick Racing to replace Adrian Fernandez. Team owner Pat Patrick and general manager Jim McGhee met yesterday at Patrick's winter home in Phoenix and both expect the deal to happen.
