Lancia revives Fulvia HF concepts
Italian Fiat Group brand Lancia has created a new, prototype road car to celebrate the Fulvia Coupe HF, one of the most successful rally cars in history
The V4-powered, wishbone-suspended, front-drive Fulvia, 140,000 of which were ultimately built, was launched at the 1965 Geneva Show and its HF version won numerous events and the 1972 World Rally Championship.
The new, reminiscently styled 'concept' car is equipped with features that appear ideal for competition applications.
The new car is to be shown at the upcoming Frankfurt Show. Its dimensions are practically identical to those of its predecessor but the track has been broadened to provide greater stability. Its 1.8-litre, 16-valve engine, equipped with variable valve timing, drives the front wheels. The McPherson front suspension has telescopic struts, coaxial coilsprings and lower wishbones, and the rear suspension is equipped with longitudinal arms and an antiroll bar.
The car has aerodynamically developed, all-aluminium bodywork and weighs 990kg, and much attention has been devoted to its weight distribution. The interior has two 'bucket' seats.
