Lamborghini World Finals: Asia finale pole for ex-GP2 racer Pavlovic

Former GP2 racer Milos Pavlovic won a hard-fought pole position for the final Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia race of the season at Imola

Pavlovic was third in the first part of the session behind Afiq Yazid and Artur Janosz before the red flag was put out after former F3 European Championship driver Richard 'Spike' Goddard crashed at the Villeneuve Chicane.

When the session restarted, Pavlovic knocked Yazid off top spot with a lap of 1m41.912s.

But Yazid, who by then had been shuffled back to fourth place behind Janosz and Rik Breukers, reclaimed first place a few minutes later with a 1m41.562s lap.

Pavlovic, who shares his Pro-Am entry with Andrew Haryanto, responded with just under five minutes remaining to post a 1m41.316s that gave him pole by 0.246s from Yazid.

Janosz was third fastest, 0.752s off pole, but his session effectively came to an end with just over a minute-and-a-half to go when he parked in the gravel at Acque Minerali.

This brought out the red flag for the second time.

Breukers was fourth, 0.832s off pole and the second best of the Pro-Am drivers in the GDL Racing Huracan he shares with Nigel Farmer.

Alberto di Folco was fifth fastest ahead of Maxx Ebenal, with Goddard seventh thanks to the time he set before going off.

Rory Collingbourne was eighth for Leipert Motorsport ahead of the leading Am car of George Chou.

Supachai Weeraborwornpong was the fastest Lamborghini Cup driver in 11th despite a spin at Villeneuve early on.
