Jyväskylä's new three-year deal with Rally Finland
AKK Sports, the promoter of Neste Rally Finland, has signed a new contract to keep the event at Jyväskylä for another three years. Jyväskylä beat rival bids from Lahti and Tampere for Finland's round of the FIA World Rally Championship. Pekka Kettunen, the mayor of Jyväskylä, believes that dynamic decision-making has been an asset for the city in attracting major events and projects. "Keeping Neste Rally Finland in Jyväskylä is more proof of our competitive abilities," he said
The decision to keep the rally in Jyväskylä is based on a detailed risk analysis involving all three cities. Decisive factors in Jyväskylä's favour were its suitable facilities for rally headquarters and city events, the area's potential venues for the competition and its people involved in the rally. Jarmo Mahonen, CEO of AKK Sports, said: "It was a tough decision to take and we were very pleased to note the considerable interest shown by all three cities. The proposals showed commitment and were well thought out. It gave us proper tools to decide."
