Junqueira Ruled Out for Milwaukee
Newman-Haas have confirmed that Bruno Junqueira will miss this weekend's Milwaukee Champ Car race because of injuries sustained in his crash at last weekend's Indy 500
The championship leader will remain in hospital until the end of the week after surgery on his two fractured vertebras, and will be forced to watch Saturday's race on television.
Team officials would not comment on how long he is likely to be out of the cockpit, but it could be up to two months. The team are deciding whether to replace the Brazilian for this weekend and will make an announcement tomorrow.
Former Newman Haas driver Christian Fittipaldi has been linked with the drive. The Brazilian won two races for the team between 1996 and 2002 before leaving to peruse a NASCAR career.
Former Conquest and Walker Racing driver Mario Haberfeld is also available, after being on standby to replace the recovering Timo Glock at the last round of the championship in Monterrey, Mexico.
Practice for this weekend's race begins on Friday.
