Jourdain wants win from European races

Michel Jourdain Jr is looking to claim his first Champ Car victory during the series' European swing that begins at Brands Hatch this weekend, after he was robbed of a win in Long Beach when his transmission failed on his final pit-stop

The Mexican reckons that the ability of his Team Rahal outfit to find a set-up on circuits new to the Champ Car series will aid him going into the Brands race. Jourdain finished second in the season-opening race on a brand new street circuit in St. Petersburg.

"Anytime you get to a new track the engineers do a lot of simulation work ahead of time trying to get a basic set-up. That gives us a basic starting point for when we go on track. We did a pretty good job at St. Pete of anticipating what our set-up should be so I feel confident heading into the race. I think the Gigante team showed everyone at Long Beach what we are capable of."

Following his disappointment in the race at Long Beach, Jourdain is determined to look at the positives from his performance, and is hopeful of a win in the next couple of races, either at Brands Hatch or at the Lausitzring in Germany the following week. "Sure it still hurts a bit that we didn't get the win at Long Beach, but on the other hand I am very proud of what we did accomplish that weekend," he said.

"We won the pole and we showed we could dominate a race. If we can dial in the car like we are capable of then maybe when I come back from Europe I will finally have that first win."
