Jason Plato returns to Race of Champions for 2015 London event
British Touring Car Championship star Jason Plato will make his first Race of Champions appearance in five years when the event returns to London this November
Two-time BTCC champion Plato, who is currently second to Gordon Shedden in the touring car standings with two events remaining, is the first driver to be announced for the Team England line-up at the 2015 RoC.
"I've always enjoyed my visits to the Race of Champions and there's no greater incentive than to look at the drivers who assemble there every year," he said.
"They are the very best in the world and it's a privilege to race against them on the same track in identical cars."
On Plato's last visit to the RoC in 2010, he and team-mate Andy Priaulx reached the final of the Nations Cup element, where they were beaten by German line-up Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher.
Vettel is one of several current F1 racers already committed to the 2015 RoC, along with Daniel Ricciardo, Felipe Massa and Nico Hulkenberg.
Formula E champion Nelson Piquet Jr and two-time MotoGP title-winner Jorge Lorenzo are among the other participants in the November 20-21 event, which takes place at London's Olympic Stadium.
