Russia and Indonesia are the latest two countries to be firmed up for the inaugural A1 Grand Prix championship

Indonesia and Russia Join A1 GP

Although the exact nature of the deals and team structures have yet to be announced, both teams are testing at this week's official session at Paul Ricard.

The Indonesian entry is being tested by 25 year-old former F3000 driver Ananda Mikola.

The Russian team have recruited the two drivers from FIA GT championship entrant Russian Age Racing, prompting speculation that its preparers Cirtek motorsport could be involved on the technical side.

Nikolay Fomenko and Alexey Vasiliev, who lie 40th and 41st in the FIA GT1 drivers championship respectively, will test their 550bhp A1 Grand Prix car this week.

The new additions mean that 20 A1 Grand Prix teams are testing at the French circuit this week and will line up on  the grid for the series maiden race at Brands Hatch next month.

In addition to the 15 cars that took part in the series' inaugural test at Silverstone earlier this month, teams from India, Ireland and Germany also take to the track for the first time.

Among the teams that took to the track at Silverstone, a number have recruited new drivers for the test.

Emerson Fittipaldi's Brazilian team have recruited British F3 runner Bruno Senna, the nephew of Ayrton, to test for them alongside GP2 race winner Nelson Piquet Jr. Ruben Carrapatoso, who has F3 Euroseries experience, will also test for the team.

Giorgio Mondini, usually thought of as Italian when he races in GP2, will drive for the Swiss team because of his dual nationalities.
