Fukuda Joins Saulnier Racing
Former French Formula Three Champion Ryo Fukuda has secured a return to racing with Saulnier Racing in the World Series by Renault, after being forced to sit out last season because of budget reasons
The Japanese ace, who was test driver for the BAR-Honda team in 2002, has not raced regularly since a handful of appearances in the 2003 Formula Nippon Championship - and will be put on an intense testing programme to get fully up to speed before this year's Renault championship.
Fukuda will join Frenchman Simon Pagenaud, runner up in the 2004 Formula Renault Eurocup, at Saulnier Racing with the first test of the year due to take place at Le Mans on April 2/3.
Team boss Serge Saulnier said: "I am very happy to have an experienced driver alongside Simon Pagenaud, especially one who already knows the team.
"Ryo lacks training, as he had not driven since the start of last season. Therefore, we have made plans for him to move to Magny-Cours, so he will be close to the team, in almost permanent contact with us. We are setting up a specific training programme for him, with one of our old Dallara Nissan Light cars."
