Franchitti, Tracy re-sign for Team Green
Dario Franchitti and Paul Tracy will remain team mates at Team Kool Green in 2001. Franchitti has committed to one more season with the team, while Tracy's new contract takes him through to 2005
Franchitti, 27, tested the Jaguar F1 car earlier this season and had also been linked with other CART teams. The Scot tied with Juan Montoya for the championship on points last season, but has yet to win a race this year, his season suffering from a testing crash in February.
"I'm glad to be staying with the people who gave me the opportunity to win races, contend for the championship and have some fun while doing it," said Franchitti. "I appreciate the faith that Barry Green and KOOL have in me, and I plan to get on with the business of winning races for them."
Tracy, currently sixth in the championship and winner from last place at the previous race at Elkhart Lake, said: "It's great to be back with Team Green and to know I'm going to be here for a long time. This is a quality team and they have given me everything that I could ask for as a driver - the best equipment available, a tremendous group of mechanics and engineers, and a supportive environment to get the job done."
The re-signing of the pair could well see the start of a flurry of activity in the driver market, as the number of attractive seats are starting to be filled.
