Farewell to touring car racing's greatest team boss
Charly Lamm and the Schnitzer Motorsport name are almost interchangeable. When he stepped down at the end of 2018, the absence of the driving force behind the touring car world's greatest empire undeniably left a huge void
This was the tribute to the career of Charly Lamm I wrote late last year after he announced his retirement from Schnitzer Motorsport. It stands now as a tribute to the life of a man I'd come to regard as a friend after our nomadic existences brought us into contact so many times over the course of 20-plus years
Motor racing is not going to be quite the same without Charly Lamm. Not for me and, I'm sure, not for many others. It somehow won't feel right when the German is no longer at the helm of a team he turned into a byword for success with BMW over a period spanning five decades. That team, of course, is Schnitzer Motorsport.
