Ebrahim returns to Formula 2

Armaan Ebrahim will return to the revamped Formula 2 championship for its second season this year

The 20-year-old Indian is the first of 15 registrations so far for 2010. The championship is planning to unveil the other 14 names daily over the coming weeks.

Ebrahim was 17th in F2 last season with a best finish of sixth at Brno. He has also previously won races in Formula BMW Asia and Formula V6 Asia, as well as racing for his country in A1GP and competing in the GP2 Asia Series.

"I am really excited to be returning to Formula 2 and I just cannot wait to get back into the car," said Ebrahim.

"Last year went quite well and we really started to get things together as the year went on.

"This season it is vital that I am on the pace from the word go - I feel much more comfortable and confident about my chances this year and my goal is to win the championship.

"Of course, it is difficult to make predictions but the title is possible - I just need to be more consistent and keep scoring points."

Series boss Jonathan Palmer added: "I'm delighted Armaan is back in F2 this year. He had some strong performances last season, particularly at the Barcelona final event, and I am quite sure he will build on his experience to be regularly in the top six and have a few podiums in 2010, maybe even a win."
