Del Monte Set to Replace Wirdheim
Fabrizio del Monte is set to complete the rest of the season with HVM
The Italian, who made one Champ Car start this season with Jensen Motorsport at Long Beach, is in line to replace Bjorn Wirdheim in the team for the rest of the season.
Wirdheim is reportedly short of budget and missed out on a possible podium in last weekend's Las Vegas round following an air-jack failure during his first pitstop.
Del Monte, who has been recently competing in the F3000 Italia series, told Italia Racing: "I'm really enthusiastic about this deal. I've already done one race in Champ Car, but it was an one -off event.
"On the other hand this is a programme which, even if short, will give me the opportunity to get on the track in a very popular and competitive series with a technically competent team, which I will have plenty to learn from.
"My objective is to learn as much as possible in these last races in to set me up for my 2006 cards in the best way."
