Danielsson signs for DAMS
DAMS has completed its World Series by Renault line-up with the signing of former Formula Renault V6 star Alx Danielsson alongside Italian Formula Renault champion Pastor Maldonado
Danielsson drove for Stanley Dickens' SRTS squad in the FR V6 series last year, taking his maiden victory in Dubai. With that championship being superseded by the new World Series in 2005, it was a logical step for both Danielsson and DAMS to graduate to the revised category.
"It's an excellent opportunity for me," says Alx. "DAMS is a very professional team that will give me what is needed to challenge for the title."
DAMS' managing director Eric Boullier admitted that the team had been chasing Danielsson for some time.
"I met Alx when he was racing in Formula Ford and he tested with us in the FRV6 in December 2003," said Boullier. "Unfortunately we did not manage to reach an agreement for 2004 and today I am delighted to welcome him in the team. He is a very good competitor and the experience he gained last year in FRV6 will be important for us."
The World Series teams are currently preparing for the championship's first official test at Paul Ricard this weekend.
