Dakar Rally: Overall positions [Stage 13]
Stephane Peterhansel has won the 13th stage of the Dakar-Cairo Rally, moving up into second place overall
The stage was marred by a serious accident involving four cars, leaving two competitors - Carlos Sousa and Joao Manuel Luz - in a critical condition and Dominique Serieys (co-driver to early leader Kenjiro Shinozuka) in a serious condition.
Jean-Louis Schlesser remains overall leader, despite finishing second in the stage after getting stuck in a dune and having to be pulled out by team-mate Jose Maria Servia.
The Frenchman, who won last year's event, has a lead of just under nine seconds.
Servia finished the stage in third, to put him fifth overall.
Jean-Pierre Fontenay is in third position for the event after coming in behind Servia to take fourth stage place.
Jutta Kleinschmidt is in fourth place overall.
