Czech mate in final A1 practice

Tomas Enge was in the right place at the right time to put the Team Czech Republic car at the head of the times in the final A1 Grand Prix practice session at Estoril

Once again all the drivers started the session on wet tyres, but with a weak sun gradually breaking through the clouds, the track finally dried sufficiently for the drivers to try slicks at the end of the hour-long session.

As the flag fell, Enge was just beginning his final lap, setting a time of 1:32.718 and leaving his an advantage of over half a second on the rest of the field.

Nelson Piquet Jr. was second quickest for Team Brazil, while Robbie Kerr was third for Team Great Britain. Team Holland's Jos Verstappen took fourth. Adrian Sutil was fifth for Germany, just ahead of one-time pacesetter Scott Speed in the Team USA car.

It was a bad session for previous pace-setters Team France. Alexandre Premat was unable to set a time in the driest of the conditions and languished at the foot of the timesheets, 17 seconds off the pace.
