Crash repair team at Bathurst 24-Hour

Event organiser PROCAR Australia has arranged for a team of vehicle accident repair specialists to attend the second Bathurst 24-Hour in November. The NRMA Crash Repair Team will be equipped to repair even major wrecks, and new regulations will allow cars officially to remain in the race although removed temporarily from the track. The free service is intended to reassure international teams that crashes may not necessarily mean a premature end to an expensive venture

A special paddock compound will include repair facilities such as a straightening rack, a spray-painting booth and a glassfibre repair area. A workforce of 30 volunteer instructors and senior apprentices under manager Tony Warrener will do the repair work, although the race team crews will be responsible for stripping and refitting all mechanical parts. The team's mobile HQ will be in a specially fitted Volgren double-deck coach donated by PROCAR chairman Ross Palmer.

Over 25 years - and 38 years at Bathurst for Warrener himself - the Crash Repair Team has won a reputation and the gratitude of hundreds of teams for putting crashed cars back on track. It also provides its service at other Australian events, including all rounds of the PROCAR Champ Series.
