Comtec go for Eurocup

Team boss Jonathan Lewis is already intending to set up a two-car team in either the F3000-succeeding GP2 championship or the Renault World Series, but sees the Eurocup as the ideal junior category to complement his front-line assault

Lewis said: "I've already got a couple of drivers lined for the Eurocup, and ever since we have been looking at it, driver interest has rocketed. It makes sense whether we do GP2 or particularly the world series, because that runs on the same calendar and would suit the team well."

Lewis also intends to contest selected British rounds of the championship above and beyond European commitments.

He said: "We'll probably cherry-pick four or five of the best British championship rounds. We could maybe do even more depending on how many clashes there are in the calendars. It might be possible to do both fully, but the main aim will be the Eurocup, because what Renault are doing with the package is going to make it very attractive."
