Classic Lotus 49 display added to 2017 Autosport International
All seven surviving examples of the legendary Lotus 49 Formula 1 car will be displayed together at Autosport International 2017 next month to mark the design's 50th anniversary

Colin Chapman's Lotus 49 won on its F1 debut with Jim Clark in the 1967 Dutch Grand Prix and took Graham Hill and Jochen Rindt to the 1968 and 1970 drivers' titles, with the team winning constructors' honours in both those seasons as well.
It is regarded as having delivered one of the biggest steps forward in performance in F1 history.
The 49 was one of the first F1 designs to use the engine as a stressed member and brought the ultra-successful Cosworth DFV engine into the field.
Classic Team Lotus has assembled the seven remaining chassis from owners around the world.
The cars on display in Birmingham were raced by Clark, Hill, Jo Siffert, Jackie Oliver, Mario Andretti, Rindt, Richard Attwood, John Miles and Emerson Fittipaldi.
They include the chassis Clark used for the 49's debut victory at Zandvoort, the car in which both Andretti and Fittipaldi made their first F1 starts, the chassis in which Hill secured the 1968 championship, the car with which Siffert claimed the last GP win for a customer team with Rob Walker in the '68 British GP and a chassis owned and restored by Red Bull F1 designer Adrian Newey.
