Champ Car to Honour Indy Tickets

For the thousands of fans who were rightfully upset after spending a fortune on United States Grand Prix tickets only to witness a hollow contest between six Bridgestone-shod cars, those ticket stubs are worth holding on to

Champ Car to Honour Indy Tickets

The Speedway is not offering any refunds, having issued two statements making it clear that disenchanted fans should address their complaints to the FIA and/or Michelin.

But the Champ Car World Series has stepped into the breach by agreeing to honour those USGP ticket stubs at the Grand Prix of Cleveland on the shores of Lake Erie next weekend, June 26, for free race day admission.

Ticket sales are already running ahead of last year for the Cleveland race. But Champ Car wanted to offer something to the Midwestern fans who were robbed of seeing the competition they paid for at the F1 race when the Michelin teams withdrew due to safety concerns.

Shortly after the Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland, the series made the following offer to the fans: "The Champ Car World Series has always been a series about its fans.

"In support of the international open-wheel racing community, the organisers of the Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland have announced that tickets for Sunday's Formula One United States Grand Prix will be honoured on June 26."
