CAMS cancels Calder Park track licence

CAMS, the Australian ASN, yesterday cancelled the track licence of Calder Park Motorsport Promotions, the operator of the Calder Park circuit near Melbourne, VIC, due to its insolvency. CAMS says that the board of CPMP passed a resolution to this effect in March 2003 and that the company has subsequently been placed into administration

With no expectations of future trading and no apparent ability to pay for a 2003 track licence, CAMS president Colin Osborne said that CAMS had no option but to remove the licence. "This unfortunately means that no CAMS permitted events can be held at Calder Park after today unless a new operator successfully applies for a licence," said Osborne. "The administrators of Calder Park Motorsport Promotions Pty Ltd have been given every opportunity to continue with the current track licence but have chosen not to do so.

"The situation is obviously disappointing for event organisers that have meetings planned at Calder Park in the coming months. CAMS will endeavour to provide assistance to the affected clubs in sourcing alternative venues to enable these meetings to run."
