BHCL tracks likely to survive after sale
The Brands Hatch Circuits Ltd sites, which have been put up for sale by US-based owner Interpublic, are likely to remain motorsport-based under new ownership. Tony Edgley, the chairman of corporate finance at Jones Lang La Salle, which is handling the sale, confirmed that almost all bidders had an interest in motorsport. "Based on the profiles of prospective bidders, most if not all have very clear links with motor racing," he told Motorsport News
"We have received a significant level of interest from mulitiple parties from a variety of backgrounds, including car manufacturers and organising clubs as well as approaches about individual circuits"
Edgley admitted that any new owner may add further developments to the venues to work alongside racing: "The sale amounts to 1050 acres and potential buyers could do more with the land than is currently being done. The key driver is the profit from the race tracks, but possible development could co-exist with the racing."
He confirmed that the deal is likely to be completed well before the end of 2003: "We have a number of potential buyers who want to move very quickly. We will run a fair, open and transparent process. We expect this to be done long before the year end, with a possible conclusion in September or October."
