Bahrain to Host BMW Final
BMW has confirmed that it will run a first ever World Final for its Formula BMW category at the end of the year, after announcing on Tuesday that the event will take place in Bahrain in December
Following the growing success of the series around the world, BMW will hold a special event at the Sakhir circuit on December 13-16, with the best drivers from its four regional series in Germany, Britain, Asia and the United States.
BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen said: "Bahrain is an ideal venue for the first Formula BMW World Final. Even in December, the Gulf region affords good weather conditions for high-calibre motor racing.
"But what we regard as particularly important is that the circuit boasts first-rate safety standards. We are delighted to have won the Bahrain International Circuit as a partner for our project. Motor racing fans can look forward to a real treat."
Victory in the event will not just give a driver the opportunity for some decent media coverage, because they will also walk away with £30,000 and a test in the Williams-BMW Formula One car.
