Autosport's Top 50 drivers of 2022 is now in the 21st year of ranking the greats of the previous 12 months – and here's how the list comes together.

Our team of correspondents travel the world to bring you the inside track from Formula 1, World Rally Championship, MotoGP, sportscars, GTs, Formula E, touring cars and much, much more. At the end of every season we ask them to rank the drivers from the series they cover, and that’s how we start to compile the overall list.
The 2022 list appears in the bumper Christmas edition of Autosport magazine (22 December) and on Autosport.com.
