Atlas Group to run GT1 Saleen

Swiss investment company Atlas Group will run a Saleen S7R GT1 car in the 2010 Le Mans Series, having acquired the assets of FIA GT teams K plus K and Full Speed Racing

The team will operate under the ATLAS eFX-Team Full Speed title and run a single Saleen in this year's LMS before expanding to a two-car line-up next year.

Atlas also hopes to race in the FIA GT1 World Championship next season. No Saleen teams were granted entries for the 2010 world series.

Atlas has signed former Japanese Formula 3 champion Carlo van Dam - who had a one-off FIA GT race with Full Speed last year - and former K plus K driver Adam Lacko for its LMS campaign, and will announce a third driver shortly.

"Podium finishes are obligatory for we want to have a say in the championship," said Atlas spokesman Peter Levicek.

"K plus K demonstrated this with its team in 2009. They achieved two victories and four podium finishes with the Saleen, which shows that we have a realistic target."
