Atlanta oval bid unveiled
Atlanta will run a single car for a junior driver in the main series, alongside an entry in the supporting Pickup Truck racing championship as the first step towards a possible long-term future in America
Team boss Ben Owen said: "The long-term aim has to be America. Even moving from British GT to Days of Thunder you can see a massive difference in terms of what you can offer to sponsors, and this is a good chance to gain the experience needed to look at running in the USA where our future could lie.
"As far as drivers go we're looking for someone with a bit of experience. It doesn't have to be in oval racing, but we need a driver who can get on the pace quickly."
The tie-in with Torquespeed further strengthens the championship-leading team's aspirations to create a ladder system to take British drivers to the top level of American Stock Car racing.
Steve Hodgson needs only a top-six finish in this Sunday's Days of Thunder finale to seal the team's second title in four years.
