Allmendinger Given All-Clear
AJ Allmendinger has been cleared to race in the Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland after doctors found he was suffering no ill effects from his heavy accident in final qualifying
The American crashed at Turn Eight towards the end of yesterday afternoon's session and after complaining of a headache was taken to a nearby hospital for a precautionary CT scan.
He was discharged last night and passed an IMPACT test (which assesses mental acuity) this morning in time to take part in the warm-up, in which he set the 12th fastest time.
Allmendinger will line up ninth on the grid for today's race, the fifth round of the 2005 season.
