All-new British Supercar V8 series in 2004

RHM says that the new series will tour the UK as the headline attraction of the BRDC's British F3/GT race package. The objective is to provide fresh, entertaining and competitive motorsport action with unpredictable results. The formula will allow for different four-door body shapes on identical spaceframe chassis and will aim for power:weight ratios that are twice that of current touring cars, at a fraction of the costs. The 3.2-litre cars are to be built by Rouse-Hall Motorsport.

Roger Etcell explained: "Motorsport fans have a thirst for ultimate power and high-quality racing with dramatic cars and star 'name' drivers - a format which is currently not seen in Britain, but is enjoyed in other countries with series such as the Australian V8s, the DTM and NASCAR. We are planning a race series that adds a new dimension to the UK motorsport scene, with sexy cars, professional stars and young talented drivers, and the spine-tingling roar of massive horsepower. We are confident SCV8 will quickly establish itself as one of the cornerstones of national racing and build a solid, loyal fan base who will become avid followers of the series."

Under an SCV8 Franchise Scheme, selected teams will hold an exclusive arrangement for their chosen brand from a selection of over 15 different models. Manufacturers will be offered the opportunity to play a part in the team selection process. Only five franchises will be offered in the first year, to reach a target 20-car grid.
