Accident KOs Kanaan from Detroit Race
Mo Nunn Racing has withdrawn Tony Kanaan's Reynard-Honda from the Detroit Grand Prix after Kanaan suffered a mild concussion in an accident during qualifying Saturday afternoon

Kanaan spun into the Turn 10 tyre wall four laps into Saturday's 30-minute Group 2 qualifying session after his car appeared to make contact with the car of Max Papis. Kanaan continued the session in his back-up car, but in five timed laps could achieve only the 26th-fastest time.
The Brazilian visited the CART medical staff immediately after the session complaining of headaches. CART doctors sent him to Detroit Receiving Hospital for a precautionary CAT scan, which was negative. Doctors, however, diagnosed him with a mild concussion and advised him not to race on Sunday.
"We are thankful that Tony did not get hurt badly in the accident, but we are quite disappointed that he won't be able to drive in the race," said team owner Morris Nunn. "He'll be fine by Portland next week. The doctors just thought it would be the wise thing to do to take the rest of the weekend off. We're not going to argue with that."
Kanaan is currently ninth in the CART point standings and is expected to return to action next weekend for Round 8 at Portland, Oregon.
