2014 McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award finalists await their big night

A young British driver will be crowned the 26th McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award winner at Sunday night's AUTOSPORT Awards

Autosport Awards

The Autosport Awards are a series of awards presented by motor racing magazine Autosport to drivers that have achieved significant milestones each season. Some of the presentations are selected by the general public via a reader's poll.

Formula Renault Eurocup frontrunner Alexander Albon, FR Northern European Cup champion Ben Barnicoat and title rival Seb Morris, British Formula Ford runner-up Harrison Scott, BRDC Formula 4 champion George Russell and series race winner Sennan Fielding are the chosen finalists for the potentially career-defining prize, which includes a test in a McLaren Formula 1 car and £100,000.

How the McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award winner is chosen

The six drivers have all come through an intensive assessment process including on-track evaluations in Mercedes DTM, McLaren GT and Formula 2 machinery, interviews and fitness tests.

BRDC president and 1992 world sportscar champion Derek Warwick, double British Touring Car champion Jason Plato, 1997 Award winner turned McLaren GT ace Andrew Kirkaldy, McLaren head of vehicle engineering Mark Williams, leading circuit commentator Ian Titchmarsh and Motorsport News editor Kevin Turner formed the 2014 judging panel.

Previous winners of the Award include F1 racers David Coulthard, Anthony Davidson, Jenson Button and Paul di Resta, plus four-time IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti.
