Valsecchi leads Abu Dhabi practice
Davide Valsecchi led the first official session of the new GP2 Asia Series, topping the times in Friday morning practice at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina circuit
The iSport driver finished a massive 1.4 seconds ahead of his closest rival in a session that started on a dirty and slippery track.
Valsecchi took the top spot just nine minutes into the session and remained there until the end, beating ART rookie Marcus Ericsson to the top spot thanks to setting his fastest lap as conditions continued to improve near the end.
DPR's Michael Herck was third quickest ahead of the Meritus car of early pace-setter Luca Filippi. DAMS driver Edoardo Piscopo and Britain's Sam Bird, driving the second ART car, completed the top five. Pos Driver Team Time Laps
