Singapore GP2: Luca Filippi ruled out of Sunday's season finale

GP2 Series frontrunner Luca Filippi has been ruled out of Sunday's season finale in Singapore, while James Calado's presence is in doubt

Feature race pole-starter Filippi will not race as his Coloni-run car will not be repaired in time after a heavy impact with the tyre wall at the final corner during Saturday's race.

He had collided with another car, and been into the barrier at the corner beneath the Marina Bay grandstand, before the wing detached and jammed under the chassis, which sent his car into the wall at high speed.

"I didn't think the wing was damaged, then it just failed in the final corner," he said. "I feel really sorry for the team, as I wanted to give them a win in their final weekend."

Coloni exits GP2 after this weekend, after being ever-present in the series, following a dispute with organisers that both parties refuse to elaborate on.

Calado, meanwhile, faces a pre-race fitness test tomorrow afternoon after contracting food poisoning that forced him to park his Lotus-run car in the latter stages of the feature race.

He wrote on Twitter: "I was at the hospital this morning. I just made the race, battled up to eighth but unfortunately had to retire due to the illness. At 2pm tomorrow I will confirm if I can drive."
