Senna critical of stewards' call
GP2 Series title fighter Bruno Senna has spoken out at the level of consistency of stewards' rulings over the release of cars during pitstops
Speaking after he was given a drive-through penalty that cost him a likely race win at Spa on Saturday, Senna said he was penalised for the same situation that Felipe Massa faced in the recent European Grand Prix at Valencia and Lucas di Grassi did to him in the GP2 race at Silverstone earlier in the year.
Senna almost hit Alberto Valerio's car, which was coming into the pits for its mandatory pitstop as Senna was exiting his box.
"I feel the win was taken away," said Senna. "If you look at it, they should have taken the conditions into account. The pitlane was very wet, so it takes two or three times longer to accelerate away from your box.
"It was impossible for the team to know that I would exit close to the other car. I feel I did everything right and the team did everything right.
"I am really sad about the rules not being applied consistently. Nothing happened at Silverstone when I had to lock-up to avoid di Grassi, and Massa was only fined for what happened in Valencia."
Senna finished 12th in Saturday's race, giving him an outside shot at scoring points in Sunday's sprint race. His title rival, Giorgio Pantano, will start 21st after his own disastrous race.
