Second Cars Delivered to Teams

The new GP2 championship took a further step towards the end of its pre-season preparations after the second batch of cars were delivered to the teams

Second Cars Delivered to Teams

The delivery of the cars will end tomorrow, organisers said.

Engine maker Mader Racing has been working hard over the past weeks and has created an evolution of the V8 engine. All teams will receive the updated version in time for the forthcoming test session at the Paul Ricard circuit on April 4th and 5th.

The official launch of the GP2 series is on April 6th, while the first race will take place on April 24th at Imola.

"I'm very happy to see the teams take delivery of their second cars,"  said GP2 series technical director Didier Perrin. "But while their delivery may appear to signal the end of one phase, it in fact marks the start of another, more important period in the life of the GP2 series.

"Our job from here on in is to ensure that we continue to provide the highest level of service to our teams, and continually push the envelope to provide upgrades and evolutions.

"We are also entering an incredibly exciting time, as we look forward to our first 24-car test. Not only this, but we will soon see the first competitive sessions for the cars when they compete in the qualifying session for race numbers on the occasion of the GP2 series launch on April 6th."
