Q & A with Gianmaria Bruni

Q: Pole position today in a very wet session - how was it for you?

Gianmaria Bruni: I just drove - the car was perfect since this morning, and I wanted to see where we could be so I just took it easy - if you look at the splits from this morning you can see that I was already P2 or P3. In qualifying I took a little bit more risk and the car was perfect, so I showed that with a quick car I can be P1, where I should be.

Q: With weather like this is there anything you can do strategically, or it just a case of hope that it plays in your favour?

Bruni: I'm just so happy for now - tomorrow is another day, and at 2.45 we will see what's going on.

Q: How bad were the conditions? Was it as bad as it looked?

Bruni: It was the same for everybody - there were 24 cars in the same conditions, and obviously I was lucky to be in P1, to be honest - I was on full throttle through Eau Rouge and I touched the white line and nearly spun and lost the car. But if you go back last year to here, in Formula One I qualified as the best qualifying ever for Minardi, ahead of the Jordans, one of the BARs and Toyota, so obviously I like this circuit. I won the first Formula Renault Eurocup in front of Pizzonia, so it's one of my nice circuits - we just kept it quiet before coming here.

Q: You do seem to like the place - given that, what are your predictions for tomorrow?

Bruni: I'm so happy now, but I have the see the data, see what the forecast is for tomorrow - if it's dry then it's dry for everyone, and I'll try my best, like I always do, and if it's wet then I think we are in a good position.

Q: Do you feel confident of taking a win?

Bruni: Yeah, yeah - I feel confident of a podium, and we'll see if the luck is with us.
