Premat tops day 1 times at Ricard
Alexandre Premat topped the timesheet on Thursday, at the end of the first day of testing at Paul Ricard, where all GP2 teams are testing ahead of the 2006 season opener at Valencia in three weeks
The Frenchman, in his second season with the ART team, was the only driver to set a time in the one minute and 12 seconds bracket, lapping at 1:12.887 in the afternoon session.
The afternoon session ran under cooler temperatures and overcast skies, compared to the clear weather conditions featured in the morning part.
Second fastest was Super Nova's Jose Maria Lopez, whose fastest time of 1:13.126 was set in the morning session, when the Argentinean was also the fastest. Lopez's time in the afternoon session was slightly slower: 1:13.200.
Durango's Lucas di Grassi was third fastest, followed by the two Piquet Sports drivers - with Nelson Piquet Jr getting the better of teammate Alexandre Negrao by mere five thousandths of a second.
GP2 testing continues at the Le Castellet circuit on Friday.
