Premat Thanks Team for Hard Work
Q: Second today, another tremendous performance
Alex Premat: Yeah for sure, I think this is a really good result for me and for the team, because I think that Nico and I did a really good job so far this weekend, for this race, for qualifying, for everything. And also for me it is fantastic to go up in the Championship.
Q: At the start you were quite quick, and you went side by side with Scott Speed through turn one.
Premat: Yes, but he was inside on the corner, so it was impossible for me to get past on the outside. So after that I pushed him a lot, and then I spoke with my engineers about coming in to the pits, and when I came back out I was able to push even harder. I think I won the gap to overtake Scott Speed during this part, and I was staying in contact with Nico, but I made a mistake on a corner coming into the stadium and my steering wheel was bent after that.
Q: The pit strategy was clearly the key to second today - was it your call or the team's?
Premat: In the box? We spoke together, the engineers and me, and it was really the best decision. But after that my steering was bent and I spoke to my engineers and told them - it was really hard in the first corner, and after that I lost a lot of time, especially in the fast corners! And then Scott Speed and Piquet came up to me, so for sure it was really hard - I was braking hard and try just to stay ahead of them.
Q: So just a tough day, with a lot of hard work for you.
Premat: For sure. I am pretty happy, and it is nice for the team, for everyone involved - since Magny Cours the staff has done a really good job, and I want to say thank you to every single one for their hard work. And with Nico we are a good team and do a good job, and I think it's really good also for him and for the Championship.
Q: And even with broken steering the car was so fast - that must give you so much hope for tomorrow's race.
Premat: For sure, I am really confident for tomorrow - I think it will be a super race.
