Premat joins ART
Macau Grand Prix winner Alexandre Premat has further boosted the quality of this year's GP2 field by signing a deal to join ART Grand Prix as team-mate to Nico Rosberg
Premat believes he has the opportunity to gun for the inaugural title - and admits that having a strong team-mate will only serve to help drive him onwards. He will also be helped by renewing his association with ART managing director Frederic Vasseur, who he worked with in junior categories.
"I am delighted to pursue my career with this team, which I know very well as I have been part of it for numerous years," said Premat. "I have worked with Frederic in Formula Renault and F3 and we have always accomplished great things together.
"I think that the team has all the assets and skills required to achieve great things and I will aim for the title. I also think that Nico Rosberg and I will make a very competitive duo, as he is a very fast driver. We should motivate each other and move the team forward."
Although France will not have a grand prix driver this year, the confirmation of Premat's GP2 deal means that the country will have at least three stars in the category.
