Piquet, Piccione Win Kart Challenge
Nelson Piquet Jr and Clivio Piccione have won a karting challenge put together by the GP2 series organisers for their drivers ahead of testing at the Circuit Paul Ricard
The challenge was arranged for teams of two, with names drawn out of a hat and the only proviso being that no regular teammates could pair up. A five-minute qualifying session preceded the race, which lasted for an hour with a compulsory driver swap every ten minutes.
A number of different lines were discovered around the Paul Ricard karting track, although none were quite as individual as Ernesto Viso, who managed to get airborne at the chicane on almost every lap.
The event was enjoyed by all, with the possible exception of Viso's kart owner.
At the conclusion of the hour, Piquet and Piccione were the victors, ahead of Nicolas Lapierre and Ernesto Viso, with Jose Maria Lopez and Ferdinando Monfardini running third.
