Piquet ends Paul Ricard test on top

Nelson Piquet Jr emerged fastest on the final day of official GP2 testing at Paul Ricard

Piquet's lap of 1:13.068 was good enough for the third fastest time overall in the week's two-day test at the circuit, behind ART's Lewis Hamilton and Super Nova's Jose Maria Lopez best laps from yesterday.

Hamilton continued to demonstrate how consistent he is likely to be this season, finishing the day second quickest behind Piquet.

World Series by Renault race winner Andreas Zuber was third fastest, driving for new GP2 team Trident Racing, ahead of Ernesto Viso, whose morning time was good enough for fourth quickest of the day.

New Racing Engineering recruit Adam Carroll was fifth quickest.

This morning's session had a number of red flags as the drivers pushed their cars to the limits and learnt the reconfigured equipment.

Hamilton's fastest time from yesterday suggested that the configuration of cars, with a bi-plane rear wing and new tyres, are three seconds per lap quicker around the 2.4 mile '3D' track layout of the French circuit.

Today's times:
