Pantano to Test for Super Nova
Former Jordan F1 driver Giorgio Pantano has announced that he will test with the Super Nova GP2 team at the next series test in Le Castellet, which starts tomorrow
Pantano, who lost his F1 drive due to problems with his financial backers exacerbated by a dispute between the driver's father and manager, told <i>ItaliaRacing.net</i>: "I'm doing this test with the British team to get to know the car, and to understand if something interesting can come up for the season."
Questioned on his fitness levels given his lack of recent driving Pantano acknowledged: "Yes, I haven't driven for several months, so I'm out of practice. But physically I'm fit, since I haven't missed a single day in the gym."
Any relationship between driver and team boss David Sears could be potentially be strained by a previous deal between the two - in 2002 Pantano was due to sign a deal with the Formula 3000 team only to be dropped just prior to the start of the season in favour of current Jordan driver Tiago Monteiro.
Pantano found a last minute drive with the Coloni team, finishing the year in second place in the championship with three wins; Monteiro could only manage to bring home two points over the season.
